This is a photo of our Masonic Lodge building from 1945. The building was constructed in 1929, but the Lodge has served the Powell area since 1894. We welcome visitors to come by and ask questions about our organization and the lodge building.
In 2024, Powell Lodge #582 merged with Master Lodge #244 (which was chartered in 1855) becoming Powell Masters Lodge #244. Please review the histories of both lodges posted on this website. We’re pleased to be able to look back at the contributions both lodges provided for the area and we’re excited to look forward to continue serving this area. Freemasonry – Making good men better
What is Freemasonry?
- What is Freemasonry? A fraternity of men dedicated to building the moral character of its members and the preservation of personal freedom.
- Is Masonry a religion? No. Every applicant must express a belief in a Supreme Being to whom all men are accountable but no particular religious affiliation is required.
- When did Masonry start? Informally Masonry started many centuries ago, but formally it began in 1717 in London England.
- Are there Masons in other countries? There are about 6 million Masons worldwide.
